After exiting Ford India, the Gloster becomes the second best-selling car in the segment after Toyota Fortuner
MG Motor currently offers the Astor, Hector, Hector Plus, ZS EV and Gloster in India. These are all SUVs and are doing well in terms of sales. Due to high demand and supply constraints due to shortage of spares, MG Motor India has a backlog of few months in its product lineup.
September 2021 sales stood at 3,241 units, up from 2,537 units sold in September 2020. MoM sales declined by 25% as MG sold 4,315 cars in August 2021. MG Gloster Prices October 2021
The Gloster is the company’s flagship offering in India. It was introduced in October 2020. The Gloster was priced at Rs 28.98-35.38 lakh at the time of launch. It was increased to Rs 29.98-35.58 lakh just a month after the launch date. After that, the prices have already been increased 2 times.

Despite being bigger, offering more features and power – the Gloster is more affordable than the Toyota Fortuner. Fortuner is ahead in terms of sales. For September 2021, the Fortuner recorded sales of 1,869 units, while the Gloster’s sales stood at 292 units.
MG Gloster Specs
The MG Gloster is powered by two diesel engine options. A single turbo diesel engine powers the Super and Smart variants. This 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder, turbo diesel engine makes 163 hp power and 375 Nm torque. The twin turbo engine that powers the Sharp and Savvy trims makes 218 hp and 480 Nm of higher power and torque respectively. Transmission options include an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard while the twin turbo engine gets an all-wheel drive layout.
The MG Gloster measures 4,985 mm in length, 1,926 mm in width and 1,867 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. It gets a large front grille with silver inserts, LED head lamps with LED DRLs, halogen fog lamps and LED lighting at the rear. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and gets distinctive Gloster badging on the boot lid.
The interior is decorated in brown leather and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and safety features. The Gloster is powered by MG’s iSmart connected car technology with a total of 70 advanced features. It also gets ADAS – Advanced Driver Assistance System with features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Parking Assist, Forward Collision Braking and Automatic Emergency Braking with Blind Spot Detection and Lane Departure Warning. Safety is further enhanced through a total of 6 airbags, 360 degree cameras, ABD, EBD and traction control, hill hold assist, brake assist and EDL – electro mechanical differential lock.
