Volkswagen Polo is now the cheapest car in India to come with a factory-fitted matte exterior finish
Volkswagen has launched the matte editions of the Polo and Vento in India. The Polo Matte Edition is priced at Rs 9.99 Lakh for the GT trim, while the Vento Matte Edition Highline AT costs Rs 11.94 Lakh and the Vento Matte Edition Highline Plus AT costs Rs 13.34 Lakh. All prices are ex-sh.
The new matte variant of the Polo and Vento has been wrapped up with a gray paint scheme with a matte finish. According to Volkswagen India, “The exterior of both the carlines including the roof, fuel flaps, front and rear bumpers will feature a carbon steel gray matte finish, while the ORVMs and door handles will come with a black glossy finish, giving it a sporty look. And a premium look.”
To complement the matte finish, VW has provided glossy black elements such as ORVMs, door handles and rear spoiler that indicate premium contrast. As usual, it gets the GT TSI branding near the C-pillar and is finished in Matte Grey as well. While matte finish paints look very premium and classy, they are equally difficult to maintain and are more sensitive to dusty environments.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said, “Polo and Vento are our class-leading products and have been setting new benchmarks in their respective categories since their launch. Today, I am happy to launch the limited matte edition models of both the carlines for our discerning customers who want to stand out from the crowd. We are confident that our customers will enjoy driving these cars with a simple elegance, delivering superior quality, German engineering and TSI powered fun-to-drive experience.
Interior and Feature List
Inside the cabin, the matte version of the Polo sports a familiar look with an all-black interior theme and a checkered design. It will also have the same features as the top-spec Polo. The list of creature comforts offered include a multi-information display, auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, automatic climate control, keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers, USB connectivity, footwell lamps and cruise control.
It also gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink connectivity. In terms of safety, the Polo Mat Edition will be equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, hill hold control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
The Matte Edition Polo and Vento are powered by the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine that generates 109 Bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Other TSI variants are also offered with a 6-speed manual transmission as an option.
The Polo and Vento are not the only cars from the VW-Skoda group to come with a matte variant. Skoda Rapid Matte Edition was launched just yesterday. The matte variant of the Rapide is based on the top-spec Monte Carlo variant and is powered by the 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol motor found in the VW matte variant.
